FDLRS/NEFEC Autism Endorsement Program
FDLRS/NEFEC offers the coursework needed to obtain a Florida endorsement in ASD. The coursework consists of four classes:
- Nature, Needs, Assessment and Diagnosis of Students with ASD;
- Applied Behavior Analysis and Positive Behavior Supports for Students with ASD;
- Assistive Instructional Technology and Alternative/Augmentative Communication Systems for Students with ASD
- Improving Learning and Instruction: Field Based Experience with ASD Students
These courses are taught in a hybrid system of online learning through Moodle, face to face training dates led by staff from the Centers for Autism and Related Disabilities and FDLRS staff, and online meetings through Adobe Connect.
A new cohort of participants begins the coursework each year in March, and the courses last a little over one year, ending the following April. The coursework is free for participants in the following counties: Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Flagler, Hamilton, Hernando, Lafayette, Levy, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Suwannee and Union.
